The Duke University School of Law is excited to announce a new scholarship open to Chinese nationals for study at Duke Law School. The scholarship will be awarded annually to the Chinese applicant who demonstrates the highest level of academic achievement, a record of and capacity for leadership, and a commitment to the use of law in addressing the economic, social and ethical challenges facing China and the world. This scholarship will cover the full cost of tuition for any one of the following four degrees offered at Duke: JD, LLM, LLM in Entrepreneurship and Law, or SJD.
In recognition of the high regard in which we hold Peking University School of Law, we invite the dean of law school to nominate three current students or graduates of your law school for this prestigious award. The nomination should take the form of a letter explaining why the nominee should be considered by the selection committee for the scholarship. The letter should be given to the nominee for inclusion with his or her application, and should either be written in English, or there should be an authorized translation of it into English. We also invite you to make any other student or graduate of your law school aware of this opportunity. Such students or graduates are invited to apply by nominating themselves.
The application process for the degrees and the scholarship is explained in detail on our website at www.law.duke.edu/globalleaders. The finalists in the scholarship competition will be interviewed in Beijing by the members of a selection committee, who will determine the recipient of the scholarship. That selection committee will include four of our graduates: Gao Xiqing (President and Chief Investment Officer of the China Investment Corporation), Li Xiaoming Managing Partner of White & Case in China), Hui Mei (Secretary and Spokesperson for the China Financial Futures Exchange in Shanghai) and Yan Xuan (President for Greater China of the Nielsen Corporation).
